A $10 bill recently revealed the real poverty in our marketing!

I got a crumbled $10 bill on which someone had written $100.

This is often what we try to do with marketing. 

We say that we are premium, but we appear average.

We claim that we are the world’s best, but the best never need to claim that. 

We talk ourselves up the stairs, without realizing our prospects are still way down and never got onboard this trip in the first place.

We exaggerate by saying we are 10X better than we actually are. 

It doesn’t matter what we think this dollar bill is worth, or what we try to write and rewrite it as.

It only matters what they think.
