Why is marketing very similar to fishing?
Most marketers are honestly fishing most of the time.
They can’t really see below the surface and struggle to figure out where the fish are swimming.
But the biggest issue is the hook (or rather, the lack of a compelling one).
Sure, the occasional fish will bite, but to get a satisfactory catch, marketers need to be willing to get a really good hook.
And often our hooks are very average, just like every other hook, and are often netting far less than we hope.
But the better the hook, the heavier the catch.
