My dad gave me a gem of advice when I was in school.

He told me that I had two choices in life – either learn from others’ mistakes or make those same mistakes and learn the same lessons after paying a higher cost.

In short, I can avoid paying that price if I just learn those lessons when I see it happening to others.

That’s probably a big reason why I spend time learning how other brands get their marketing wrong (and how they get it right) and share it with y’all on my daily blog.

Yesterday I wrote about how some brands get their apology wrong.

I’ve made a ton of mistakes too, but I try not to repeat them and to learn from them instead.

While it’s great to lean forward, it’s also important to look back at our mistakes.

Even if we cannot undo them, we can understand the lessons clearly and comprehensively.
