This doctor could have given both shots in 30 seconds and moved on to another baby, but he invested 5X the time because:

  1. He cares: The doctor has empathy for the baby. Period!
  2. He really alleviates pain: Every doctor aims for that but this one tops the charts. His goal is not to give the baby shots but to give pain-free shots.
  3. He makes shots seem friendly: Most kids and some adults hate injections. The 2 extra minutes help invest toward a lifetime without hatred for shots.
  4. He values the experience: Going to the doctor’s for shots isn’t something people look forward to. This doctor is determined to change that status quo.
  5. He isn’t just treating the baby: The doctor knows he needs to tend to the parent(s) too, so he treats them (to a show) as well (and they’ll be repeat clients for sure.)
