Why does Jennifer Aniston look much older in TV ads?

99% of the time that I have seen Jennifer Aniston on TV, it was on the show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

It’s not like Aniston acts in too many movies anyway.

So, on F.R.I.E.N.D.S, I would always see her in her 20s and suddenly when the ads ran in between the show, she was back to her current 50-year-old self. 

It was such a difference, because I’m so used to seeing the younger version most of the time. 

It’s not that she looks that much older in TV ads. 

It’s that I’m comparing the real Aniston in the ad to the long-term memory of Aniston that I have in my mind. 

Likewise, even if brands have changed over time, we tend to remember them as we have seen them the most.

Takeaway
