Interesting information

What’s the most frequent response to reject a sales call?

“I’m not interested.”

Most people aren’t interested in most sales offers that come their way.

That’s where salespeople often miss the mark – when they try to sell a product.

As shown in the image below, people are interested in more information about dinosaurs only at a few and certain points in their lives.

To sell a book about dinosaurs, don’t ask parents if their kids are interested in dinosaurs.

Ask them if they would like to take a nap on a Saturday afternoon, while their 4-year-old spends 2 hours in blissful silence, learning about dinosaurs.

Don’t aim to sell the information. Sell what will interest them about that information.

Takeaway

Sell the problem, so that your prospects can seize the potential. Then the product will sell itself.

Approach each customer with the idea of helping him or her solve a problem or achieve a goal, not of selling a product or service.
